Bacterial Vaginosis is a condition that produces thick discharge, itchiness, and strong odours in the vagina. We have all been there wondering if other people have noticed what we think is such an obvious problem. I mean the discomfort alone should be an obvious sign. It’s a good thing people can’t read our minds, isn’t it?
I don’t know of one woman who hasn’t had to research what’s normal and what’s not normal when it comes to their vagina. We all get on the computer or buy the women’s health book and research what exactly is happening to our body. So I’m sure if you are reading this you have had some sort of symptom or change and you’re wondering what it is exactly.
Bv is not dangerous but the symptoms are the reason we need to get rid of it quickly. Although, as a caution, there are studies that say it is easier to catch an STD when you have BV.
The amount of vaginal discharge that is considered normal varies from woman to woman. Your body should pretty much give out the same amount and same color on a regular basis. This is why you need to watch out for a change in those variables. Look for a thin and a greyish white color or a change in odour.
BV can happen when the amount and type of bacteria in the vagina change. Lactobacilli are a type of bacteria that are always present in the vagina. In women with BV, the number of lactobacilli is greatly decreased.
There are a couple different activities which are thought to cause BV including a new sexual partner, douching, and smoking cigarettes. BV isn’t just limited to sexually active women though; Women who have never had vaginal intercourse may also have the pleasure of getting it.
There are two recommended types of medicine used for the management of BV: metronidazole and clindamycin. Both of these can be taken in pill form orally, or with a gel or cream that is inserted inside the vagina. Oral medication is easier to take and cleaner but it also causes more side effects. But after all of this, BV usually comes back again.
We are learning that drugs are not the solution to every problem. Taking them can halt or cover up what’s going on but not solve the problem forever. This is why most of us have had a yeast infection more than once. What you need is to solve the problem safely and naturally and keep it on the other side of the fence for good.
If you are wondering if you have BV, or are suffering from the symptoms right now, or have had it in the past then you will want to learn more about it and how to keep it away for good. Bacterial Vaginosis Freedom is absolutely a must read on any womans list. It will teach you how to get rid of it naturally, how to prevent it from coming back, and how to improve your life in other areas in the process.
